Wheel Excavator Operators

Ístak is seeking responsible and experienced wheel excavator operators who want to take part in a variety of construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading construction and civil engineering company and work on diverse and challenging projects.

The role involves earthworks and infrastructure construction, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and professional workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and control a wheel excavator
• Perform earthworks and site preparation.
• Carry out daily inspections and basic maintenance of the machine.
• Follow company safety procedures and work practices.
• Work closely with site supervisors and other team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proven experience operating a wheel excavator (required).
• Experience operating other types of heavy construction equipment is an advantage.
• Valid heavy equipment operator certification/licence (required).
• Valid Category B driving licence (required); commercial/heavy vehicle licence is an advantage.
• Experience in earthworks is an advantage.
• Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently.
• Experience using GPS machine control systems (required).
• Excellent English language skills (required).
• Knowledge of Icelandic is an advantage.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship.
• Previous experience in the construction industry is an advantage.
